I started practising hot yoga in 2005 in my home town of Leicester. After moving to Cambridgeshire in 2008 I found Forrest Yoga and have been pracitising regulary ever since.
In 2019 I started my Forrest Yoga Teacher Training in Glasgow, completing in October 2020.
I fell in love with the physical and emotional practice of Forrest Yoga, feeling the benefits of the healing processes after years of injury. Forrest yoga gives me a sense of freedom in the mind and body, and I have continued to feel healthier and happier every day.
If you have ever wondered what Forrest yoga is all about, firstly it’s not in a forest! Forrest Yoga has been developed by Ana Forrest over 30 years and is a healing system of yoga with a healing intent woven throughout the practice and incorporates physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects and links them for a more profound and holistic yoga class.
I am excited to share my knowledge of the body and the way that Forrest Yoga can help injuries, can free the mind and body and can bring a deep sense of relaxation as well as awareness and strength
If you’re looking to increase your strength and stamina, release tension and stress, improve your breathing, reconnect to your body, and build a personal healing practice, Forrest Yoga is a great choice. It is unlike other styles of yoga you have done, but you will recognise elements of other yoga styles within the system. Just be open to doing things a new way. You will come to understand and appreciate these ways of doing things.
We will connect back into the body focusing less on how well you can do a fancy posture and more on breath, building your strength and challenging your mind as well as your body.
BREATH - Conscious control of breath allows us to control our nervous system better and during the classes we will develop your skills in breathing fresh, healing energy into areas of your body that need it most.
STRENGTH – Forrest Yoga includes working your core in every single class! By doing this it forms the foundation for getting into more complex or challenging poses, but on a deeper level connection to your core allows you to get out of your head and into your body. Working the core provides so many benefits on every level for mind and body.
INTEGRITY - Forrest Yoga helps you to safely tailor poses to work for you, specifically with physical and emotional injuries. By learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tool
s to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self-awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life.
SPIRIT - Forrest Yoga targets our habits of disconnection and avoidance. Slowing the asana practice down and holding poses for longer periods, gives the opportunity for feelings and sensations arise and to connect to your spirit.
